Phase 1 of the Banff East Gate project involved the construction of underground utilities associated with a new utility building, which was to be constructed in Phase 2.
This phase included the installation of new electrical services and associated underground conduits to both maintain existing services and prepare for future construction phases. Additionally, a new raw water line and a sanitary line with a tie-in to an existing manhole were to be installed. Existing buildings on-site remained in place, with temporary connections required during construction activities.
Quattro carried out the construction work for underground duct banks, including the supply and installation of precast concrete manholes and junction boxes.
Quattro developed a locate plan for Hydrovacing and exposing existing utilities. When new utilities were discovered, Quattro notified Parks Canada and completed photo and site measurements to ensure locations were well documented before backfilling.
