The Northwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Plant, originally constructed in 1978 to serve approximately 30,000 residents, is undergoing a major expansion to support rapid growth in the Lower Mainland. The upgraded facility will extend service to communities including Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, increasing capacity to over 280,000 people.
To support this expansion and redirect flows currently sent to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, a new pump station and supporting infrastructure are required. As part of this work, a new concrete-encased duct bank is being installed along 201 Street and 96 Avenue to facilitate power and utility connections for the expanded facility.
Quattro is delivering the installation of approximately 3,110 linear meters of concrete-encased duct bank and 17 precast manholes along 96 Avenue (208 Street to 201 Street) and 201 Street (96 Avenue to 102B Avenue).
The work includes deep trenching and shoring up to 6 metres, along with support of existing utilities, including a 1,200 mm steel watermain.
The project requires careful coordination to navigate over 300 live utility crossings, all pre-located prior to excavation. Additional scope includes 105 metres of watermain relocation and full asphalt restoration, ensuring safe integration with existing infrastructure and minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
