Kenyon Creek DFAA Flood Damage

Project Description

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure set out to complete a series of Culvert Replacements along the Sunshine Coast after the Impact seen during the atmospheric rivers of 2021.
The Kenyon Creek DFAA Flood Damage Culvert Replacement Project features the install of a greatly improved drainage system, at the crossing of Kenyon Creek through Redrooffs Rd. Notably, this included the install of two new Concrete Box Culverts; a 2.1m x 35m section, and a 2.4m x 35m section, each consisting of 15 segments, with segments weighing around 30,000lbs each.

Our Role

Quattro Constructors was responsible for all civil and structural related works and for the install of the new drainage system and its components. This included the stream diversion, bulk earthworks, detailed excavation, concrete formwork and placement for an engineered mudslap and two Cast-in-Place headwalls, culvert installations, creek-bed rock armouring, road building, site grading and landscaping. This work most notably required the bulk excavation of the existing road and ground to below subgrade, the installation of the engineered mudslab, installation of the precast culverts and HDPE culverts and the backfill of the road to subgrade, all within a 15-day window given for the complete road closure.
