Duncan Dam Fish Weir Replacement

Project Description

The Duncan Dam Fish Weir Replacement project for BC Hydro in Kaslo, BC, required removing the existing fish weir and installing a new structure—both located underwater. The challenging access conditions were overcome through well-planned temporary works and specialized construction methods.

Our Role

Quattro Constructors fabricated and installed a temporary steel cofferdam to dewater the existing fish weir, enabling its removal and replacement. Prior to cofferdam installation, divers performed underwater repairs to select sections of the existing concrete slab using pumped concrete. Once the cofferdam was in place and dewatered, the team prepared the exposed bedrock face and grouted levelling pads for the permanent fish weir. Access for this work was provided via temporary scaffolding, installed and removed by crane. Divers also assisted with cofferdam installation and removal throughout the project.
