Highway 8 – Phase 1 Emergency Repairs

Project Description

The Highway 8 Emergency Repairs project was associated with the November 2021 flood events. Scopes included highway construction, demolition of existing bridge structures, instream work, concrete repairs to bridge structures, temporary bridge construction, riprap production and placement for revetment requirements on damaged slopes.

Our Role

Quattro Constructors was contracted to provide management, crews, and equipment to deliver the emergency repairs required to reinstate Highway 8. Due to extensive damage and limited access, Quattro worked closely with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and design consultants to establish and field-fit a new temporary highway alignment for public use.

The scope included construction of riprap revetment slopes to stabilize failure areas, development of temporary access routes, and removal, stockpiling, and reinstallation of concrete roadside barriers.
Additional work involved standard highway construction activities, operations adjacent to and within the fast-flowing Thompson River, and close coordination with Canadian Pacific Railway, ensuring safe and efficient execution in a highly constrained and dynamic environment.
